Vertical Antennas

Posted by Archie KD6OLH on February 12, 2009 at 12:09 AM

I have been looking at several vertical antennas and I think I have settled on the MFJ 1798. According to the claims made this antenna covers 80/75. 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, 6, and 2 mtrs. It has been said that with a tuner,it can cover the channelized 5mHz 60 mtr. band. This is all the bands the FT-857D covers with the exception of the 70cm.(420 to 450 mHz). It's a 10 band, half wave vertical that needs no ground radials and no counterpoise. It's only 20 ft. long and weighs 18 lbs. It's rated at 1500 watts PEP. I need to get comments from anyone about this antenna.
