The LAARC Had a build-a thon at our last meeting. Kits were provided and a SWR meter was built. A good time was

had by all.

Archie did the LAARC net on 26 July 2014. He got back from a trip to Japan for a Kiwanis International conference. While he was there, he tried to meet with the English speaking Tokyo Amateur Radio Club on Sunday eve. The taxi cost one way was $300 USD. Since he didn't have the bus or train routes he didn't make it to the meet. Because VHF/UHF in Japan seems to be hijacked by unauthorized users, and the club repeater was turned off, he couldn't talk to anyone on the air. Also he didn't program his HT for WinLink or any thing, he was unable to talk. Tokyo ARC has a website, but while he was there, he was unable to raise anyone. He will try again from Ca. to see what he gets. All in all, the trip was fun and maybe he will go there again. reported by kd6olh 7/27/14

The net on July  19 was done by Randy (KI6WPY) . Randy did a fine job as NCS. He pulled in 17 hams to check-in.

The net on July was done by Carlton (KK6GVE) as Archies radio was not putting out audio because it was in the PKT mode instead of FM. Archie apologized to the group via E-mail and corrected the problem. He will be back doing the net on the 26 of July

The LAARC has a new clubhouse to hold meetings in. The building is located at 11911 VERMONT AVE in Los Angeles Ca 90044. This is a Police building and is named THE AUDREY AND SYDNEY IRMAS YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER. The meeting starts at 2:00 PM Pacific, and there is plenty of parking available. The building is on the Western corner of 120th St. and Vermont Ave, acrross the St. west of Ralphs Market. The Club meets up stairs in this building in a large room with all the amenities for a meeting place. The club is very lucky to meet here, and must keep this meeting room clean at all times
